MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST
American painter and draftsman Christopher Gallego (b. New York 1959) pairs intense observation with direct technique to bring simple everyday objects and spaces to life.
Gallego studied at the School of Visual Arts, the National Academy School of Fine Arts, and the Art Student’s League, all in New York.
His work is influenced by Morandi, Dickenson, and Velazquez, the artist claiming his passion is not for the masters but for the poetry of the visual world itself.
Fellowships include the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and the Rathbone Family of Art Historians.
Notable exhibitions include OK Harris, Hirschl & Adler, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Arkansas Arts Center, and the Rockefeller Fund. The New York Times, Art in America, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the New York Sun have acclaimed his work.
Tens of thousands of artists and non-artists worldwide have read and shared Gallego’s monthly blog posts.
Gallego teaches at the New York Academy of Art, and the Art Students League of New York, and offers Online Classes.
He lives and works in Central New York State.
