Live Demo: Using Encaustic Paints with Limited Palette
Achieve Color Harmony on your Limited Palette
Do you want to achieve color harmony on your limited palette to gain better control over your colors? Do you want to strengthen your color mixing skills? Do you want to simplify your decision-making process when you paint?
Join Mastrius Mentor Julie Snidle for a live and interactive demonstration to get helpful guidance on how to achieve a harmonious color scheme on a limited palette. Julie will be using encaustic paints, but the principles of mixing are not specific to only encaustic. The pigments being used are the same pigments found in ALL paint mediums, like oil, acrylic, or watercolor.
Julie will share insight into the encaustic painting process and show a complete demonstration of mixing color directly on a limited palette.
You will learn:
- An introduction to encaustic paints and the encaustic painting process.
- How the offspring of parent colors naturally HARMONIZE with each other.
- How a limited palette can produce a SURPRISING array of outcomes.
- How TONAL VALUE differences strengthen our paintings regardless of color.
- The different variations you can achieve from 2 parent colors.
- The different variations you can achieve from 3 parent colors.
Bring your questions and join us for an insightful session to help you find a harmonious balance on your paintings!
Always LIVE & INTERACTIVE!

Meet Julie Snidle

My abstract paintings are done primarily with waxbased paints in a process that is intuitive rather than pre-planned. Layers are built up and scraped back in an effort to achieve a balance between complexity and calm; creating order out of chaos through color, shape, and line.
- What kind of work do you make?
- Tell me about your process. What are your paintings about?
- What technical or color-related questions do you have?
Learning more about our preferences is an important step toward making authentic work. Every art journey is as unique as the artist, there is no one right way to proceed. I will meet you where you are and offer suggestions, exercises, and tips that will support your artistic goals. I want my mentorship artists to come away from the experience feeling more confident, more skilled, and more excited about their own art practices.
