Debbie Mattison
EMERGING ARTIST
Mentored By: Peggy Immel
As a child and young adult Debbie was a musician, studying flute and piano. While raising her children she had the opportunity to live in Holland and it was there that Debbie took her first painting class in 1992 and spent most of her time painting landscapes. After becoming an “empty nester” she found a creative outlet in painting and became more passionate about art. More recently Debbie became interested in Plein Air painting and has attended the Publisher’s Invitational for Plein air painters. She has taken Plein air workshops from Brian Blood, Jane Hunt, Kathleen Hudson, Jeremy Lipking and more. She has participated in many Plein Air competitions including the Williamette Valley Lavender Festival in Oregon, the Glen Arbor Paint Out in Michigan. She has shown and sold her art in Northern California and Oregon before moving to Pennsylvania. During the summer months she works outdoors as often as possible and enjoys the extra challenges that painting outside brings.
Notes: I paint in oil and acrylic. For this show I have 2 paintings that are painted in Acrylic, "At the Base of Mt Hood" and "Sunshine on the Water", The other 2 paintings are in water mixable oil, "Moonlight on the Sand" and "Wave on the Rocks". All of these paintings were created from my own reference photos.
