EMERGING ARTIST

Mentored By: Kathleen Conover

I am a contemporary abstract artist. Color is key in my painting as I believe color brings life, interest, and creative expression with mood to the viewer. It’s hard not to be happy while looking at happy colors. I also love the way light plays on objects, especially in nature. As an artist I see potential paintings in everyday life, on walk with my dog, and watching light through the trees. There is an energy in nature that I try to capture with brushwork, marks with and into the paint, as well as using design and color contribute. It’s is very much a dialogue between my expression in my painting and the viewer. What a blessing it is to be an artist. Currently, I have signature membership in the National Watercolor Society, Texas Watercolor Society (Purple Sage status), and Watercolor Art Society of Houston (Elite status). From a very young age I have drawn and painted and was strongly encouraged to get an education in a field with a consistent income, and be an independent woman. Although I worked as an Occupational Therapist in Orthopedics as a Certified Hand Therapist for over 35 years, my heart has also always been in the arts. And finally I can paint full time. With my husband, children, and grandchildren in support I am really enjoying life.

Notes: Paintings are archivally sealed and edges are varnished natural wood, but may be painted a color or black if requested.
