MEDIUM: Oil | Acrylic | Mixed Media SPECIALTY: ✔ Generalist
My mentorship group will focus on helping others to further their artistic journey. Through demos, discussion, sharing of knowledge- we will take this journey together. I want your sessions to be an enjoyable and enriching process of personal growth in your unique artistic experience. I will support, encourage and inspire you in advancing your authentic, artistic voice and the goals you aspire to for your future art endeavors.
Essential to the language of my art is the intuitive use of layers, texture, mark-making and color. The work evolves from the abstraction of nature and organic landforms, as well as from captured memories and pure emotion. The intent is to create a sense of mystery, a “history” on the canvas, through many layers of transparent and opaque paint. A gestural quality directs me as I add, subtract, splatter and drip, overlap or scratch away during my painting process. Each painting emerges into its’ own final creation.
My energy and passion are then recorded in paint. This work is an expression of my soul and my experiences, presented in a painterly language.

Running Your Art Business the Day-to-Day
I started taking Lisa’s class to loosen up and loved it! It became more than about loosening up, but also exploring a new medium. Lisa is one of the best art teachers I’ve ever had. Her workshops are a perfect balance of demos, exercises, and plenty of time to produce frameable pieces. She is an excellent teacher who can explain art concepts such as color, balance, and composition to abstracts.~NB
Lisa’s workshops and mentoring sessions are simply the best experiences any artist, new or experienced, can have. I have attended in person workshops and done mentoring sessions with her and have learned so much about art techniques, art concepts and art materials. Each class or mentoring session has given me something new to explore! I always feel inspired with new creative knowledge and I feel my soul has also been fed. ~AH
One quality I admire about Lisa is her remarkable flexibility. Whether guiding a novice or mentoring a seasoned professional, she adapts to meet her students’ needs. Learning from someone with such depth of knowledge creates an enriching environment. Beginners grasp fundamental concepts and are inspired by her skills, knowledge of color, and passion, while professionals receive the critiques and encouragement they need to refine their craft. ~NC

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lisa B. Boardwine is a painter who works in oil/cold wax, and acrylic/mixed media. Lisa is a Signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, and a Signature Artist member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. She is an instructor for workshops in oil/cold wax and acrylic/mixed media painting. These surfaces contain the essence of special places and captured memories, both near and far. Travels to Italy and exposure to the sensibility of the eroding nature of ancient architecture and the stories embedded within, have influenced her work. Lisa’s work has been exhibited in Matera, Padova, Nereto and Venice, Italy.
Lisa has published three keepsake books- “Layers, Marks, History-Selected Paintings in Oil/Cold Wax”, “Inspiration, Intuition, Image” and “Composition, Connection, Creativity”. She has been a contributing artist in the books - “Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations”, “Wabi Sabi-Cold Wax Painting, “Journeys into Abstraction”, and in two e-books, Volume 4 and 6- “A Walk into Abstracts-How did They Do That?”.
