MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST
ARTIST BIO
Lisa Stead is a full-time abstract artist residing in London, Ontario. Creative to the core, Lisa has painted for most of her life in a variety of styles but has committed to an abstract style for over 10 years in her professional practice. She works with a mix of acrylics and mixed media and predominantly expresses herself through non-objective statements. With a background in visual arts, graphic design and photography, Lisa implements her skillset into building strong, colourfully bold, abstract compositions.
Lisa also brings strong art industry knowledge of marketing for art galleries and other professional artists through website design and social media.
ARTIST STATEMENT
As a professional abstract artist, I am constantly evolving and pushing the boundaries to define myself through my paintings. You’ll notice a heavy influence from my years in graphic design and photography. I credit them when building compositional structure. I love the use of strong shape, colour and line in my compositions. For me, abstract artwork allows an unrestricted approach, releasing control to my tools so emotion and energy can lead the way intuitively. My paintings are emotionally infused with gestural markings and texture. They are explorations of bold colour, defined line and shapes, all while working to create harmony and balance among the chaotic characteristics.
