SPECIALTY: โœ” Creating Bodies of Work โœ” Drawing โœ” Finding Your Artistic Voice

When mentoring, I focus on what makes an artist tick and how best to transform vague intentions into workable strengths and visual images. Once I’ve discovered their strengths and what they’re most passionate about (maybe it’s figure, portrait, landscape, still life, or?), we set a direction and suggest techniques that emphasize shape, color, value, and edge. If they find joy in practicing what we decide together is a good direction, like a seed, it’s a start and we will continue to water it with hard work, technical improvements, artistic clarity, patience and fulfillment. It is through this process that I can guide them to cultivate their unique artistic style and voice.

The focus of my work is the classical human figure portrayed with traditional and contemporary atelier techniques. Working with fundamental art principles allows me the comfort of painting in many styles and mediums ranging from pen/ink, acrylic, watermedia, pastel and oils, to digital art. Each piece tells a story where an individual/s or idea is enveloped in an emotional atmosphere or situation. I keep the painting focused, eliminating unnecessary details while maintaining harmony, balance and a sense of mystery. My paintings are a form of personal poetry written in pictorial iconography, merging historical context with universal-human conditions.
